RHODE ISLAND LEGISLATURE SYSTEM UPGRADE

This past year, International Roll-Call worked with the staff of the Rhode Island state legislature to upgrade and improve their system. This included the installation of new full-color LED displays in both the House and the Senate.

The displays are of the 6mm variety, making them excellent for the display of voting information, member photographs, camera feed video or video from external sources. As is standard in many of our installations, the displays are driven by a dual set of controller computers which are set up in a primary/secondary fail-over system to ensure that if one controller experiences issues, the back-up may take over and keep the displays running for the meeting. In addition to this configuration, IRC installed our customary rack-mounted equipment, including UPSs, KVM switches, serial device servers, etc.

The full-color LEDs will offer the Rhode Island state legislature a powerful tool for doing business for many years to come. The LED technology has the longest life of any technology on the market and it’s high-intensity brightness makes it an ideal technology for legislative chambers with varying degrees of ambient light.

Our technicians worked with the staff of the Rhode Island legislature to create customized sequences for calling information and video to the new displays. Among the many functions created for them, they now have the ability to feed their video from the in-house broadcast television station into the new displays as well as import data from the voting system to display on the broadcast.

A crucial improvement made to the system in Rhode Island is the addition of IRC’s .NET Voting application. This software will carry their voting process forward into a new era with its additional functionality, solid and supported architecture, advanced configurability and customization options and expanded video and sequencing processes.
