Bill / Resolution Drafting

The Bill/Resolution Drafting System, although simple, allows members to submit a request to the drafting department to have a new piece of legislation drafted.  The first element is the Document Request program. Document Request is the basic tool for a user to submit a request, and a recipient to receive that request and process it.   A request may be for new legislation, an amendment to a Bill/Resolution, or some other type of document that needs to be drafted. When a new request is made, the system will prompt the user to enter several parameters, like Session, Legislative Body, Request Type, etc.  A unique request number will be issued which will stay with that request throughout its life.

The second major element of the Bill/Resolution Drafting System is to allow the request assigned user to generate document drafts, amendments, synopses, analyses and resolutions using either Word or Word Perfect. Users are able to draft these documents by selecting one of the options from a customized menu or by pressing a button on a customized tool bar. After the selection has been made, the appropriate template will be loaded and a window will prompt the user for the required information needed to initialize the draft. All draft and formatting functionality are available at this time.
